Disney favourites the Jonas Brothers are spreading their love of music.

The teen trio, who are currently touring Europe, made a surprise visit to Ryton Comprehensive School in Gateshead, UK, to teach students about the importance of music.

“We’re here today to talk to the students here at this wonderful school, just about the importance of music, the importance of getting involved with music if you can, our love of music, and what we’ve learned in our experiences so far. And hopefully we’ll give them some insight into what it’s like to be a musician and an artist,” said Nick Jonas.

The music session was part of the Department for Children, Schools and Families’ campaign, Tune In – Year of Music. The campaign is partnered with the Disney Channel.

During a special music class taught by the Jonas’, students learned how to play the guitar, put together a song and basic music techniques.

The brothers also shared their own experiences on being in a band and took questions from fans before treating them to a special performance.

Tune In – Year of Music is a nationwide government initiative to promote music in UK schools.

“Music is not just something that’s done as a hobby it’s proven to have a real impact on the way people learn and on the development of their brain,” explained Steve Williamson, Head Teacher at Ryton Comprehensive School. “In Gateshead about 4,000 people learn a musical instrument, but very often students give up at secondary level as things get busy as academic pressures come in and we think it’s important to keep that balance going throughout their lives.”

A solo JoBro: Nick’s album has a ‘more rootsy’ sound

Instead of referring to Nick Jonas as the “serious one,” maybe Jonas Brothers fans should start calling him the “workaholic one.”
In the spring, while his older brothers vacationed, the trio’s youngest member went to Nashville and recorded a solo album.

Nick Jonas & the Administration, which features former members of Prince’s New Power Generation, will release their album, Who I Am, on Feb. 2. The group will make its live debut performing a single of the same name on the Grammy Nominations Concert Live!! special Dec. 2 on CBS.

“I had written five or six songs that were on my heart, things that were just pouring out of me with this new and exciting sound,” says Jonas, 17. “They weren’t necessarily right for the Jonas Brothers, but I thought they could be perfect for something else.”

Jonas cut the album in eight days with producer John Fields, who also played bass. Additional members of the Administration include drummer Michael Bland and keyboardist Tommy Barbarella, both of whom played in the New Power Generation. Guitarist David Ryan Harris played on the album, but a third former NPG member, Sonny Thompson, will replace him for live shows.

Jonas describes the sound as “Heart & Soul.” “It’s a cross between my roots in R&B and soul with a kind of rock/pop music behind it,” he says.

“We would set up in individual booths and play simultaneously,” Jonas says. “There are very few overdubs on the record. Some songs are full live. It has a raw, late-’60s/early-’70s rock/soul sound.”

Drummer Bland calls the solo material “more rootsy” than a Jonas Brothers album. “It’s a very organic record,” he says. “We weren’t really thinking about format or whether a song was going to sound like a hit or not.”

Ciao dall'Europa!
I miei fratelli ed io ci stiamo attualmente godendo la bella città di Anversa, in Belgio. La foto di questo mese è da una gita per shopping in Italia. Abbiamo potuto conoscere molte delle città in cui ci troviamo e ci stiamo divertendo molto.

Sfortunatamente, ero indisposto e non in condizioni di esibirmi, ma mi sento molto meglio. Grazie mille per tutti gli auguri di guarigione. Sono tornato in azione e abbiamo già avuto alcuni show da quel momento.

E' difficile credere che sia già Novembre. Questo anno è volato. E' importante ricordare che questo mese è il Mese Della Sensibilizzazione al Diabete e il 14 novembre è la Giornata Mondiale per il Diabete. Non vedo l'ora di incontrarli quando saremo di ritorno dal tour. E grazie di nuovo a chi ha partecipato al contest, scegliere i vincitori non è stato un lavoro facile.
